FR. LEO LYNCH YOUTH MINISTRY

The Father Leo Lynch Youth Ministry Program

As you know, Cardinal Sean O’Malley issued a letter informing parishes that the Sacrament of Confirmation grade was changing from Grade 10 to Grade 8. One major reason for this change is that the cardinal wishes to strengthen the participation of our youth and their families.

The Woburn Catholic Collaborative has embraced this initiative and is in the process of reformatting its Religious Education and Youth Ministry programs to better align with the change.

In conjunction with the Religious Education students in the Confirmation I and Confirmation II programs (Grades 7 - 10), the Fr. Leo Lynch Youth Ministry Program engages these students with Apostolic Service Projects, Movie Nights, Activities and Retreats.

Apostolic Service Projects

Confirmation I students will be participating in the Bed for Every Child program run by the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless.  They will be teamed up into groups and will make 10 beds that will then go local families in need.

Confirmation II students will be participating in the Impact Library program.  This is an organization that assists in the making of mini libraries placed throughout the city of Woburn in areas where resources are limited.  There will be 4 libraries built, placed, and filled with books.  These libraries will be dedicated to Father Leo Lynch Youth Ministry Program.

Youth Parise and Worship Retreats

Both Confirmation I and II students will attend a 4 hour retreat with led by Monet Souza, the founder of A Message of Hope

Knowing the secular challenges young adults face everyday, Monét strives to provide the tools and encouragement they need to choose and persevere in their faith. With the culture pulling them farther and farther from their Catholic identity and faith, Monét founded A Message of Hope to instill hope in young adults when they embrace their freedom, identity, and happiness in lifestyles rooted in the Truth.

Inspiring Discipleship through Service

This will be a first of its kind for the Woburn Catholic Collaborative, and we are "testing" the water to learn more about the programs offered and the interest of student participation.

Catholic Heart Workcamp is a community where faith comes alive through service. Catholic Heart Workcamp invites you to be part of something greater through love, service, and connection. Through meaningful service projects, spiritual growth, and lifelong friendships, our Catholic mission trips equip youth to impact their world and deepen their relationship with God.

Along with the programs listed above, the Father Leo Lynch Youth Ministry Program provides students an opportunity to help directly in the neighborhood.  The Friends of Saint Anthony provides food to those in need from their Food Pantry and Seniors and the Homebound are provided many services through it's Outreach Program.

The Dwelling Place is a free dinner program located in Woburn Center and provides Meals-2-Go to local residents.  Through the LLYMP, students can prepare Meals-2-Go and deliver them to The Dwelling Place for distribution.

Food, toiletries and clothing are also collect by the students for St. Vincent de Paul and the Woburn Council of Social Concern throughout the year.
